Homemade Golden Fishies
favourite kids snack!
8 ounces (225 g), extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons (28 g) butter
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour plus more for dipping cutter
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons ice water
Place the oven rack in the center position and preheat the oven to 400F (200C). Line 2 baking sheets with parachment paper.
place cheese, butter, flour, baking powder, Salt, onion, and paprika in a food processor. Pulse 30 seconds to break everything down and combine.
continue pulsing as you add the water. Turn the food processor on for another 30 seconds until a ball forms.
remive dough from food processor and divide into 4 balls. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Roll out one dough ball on a lightly floured surface. Cut out fish shapes with a mini fish-shaped cookie cutter (about 1/2 inch) and transfer the fish to a lined baking sheet.
repeat the process with remaining dough, and bake in preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the tops are lightly browned. Remove from the oven and allow the fish to cook!
